A week of posts for a photographer

Seven posts for a working photographer, one a day, with the photo to take, the caption and why it works. Copy them as they are, or let Loudwell write a week like this from your own photos, in your voice.

You spend all day making other people look good, and your own feed hasn't been updated since spring. Most of your best work sits in client galleries no one else will see. A week like this turns it into enquiries.

The week

  1. Monday · Instagram · Photo

Shoot: Your favourite single frame from last week's shoot, with the client's permission (ask first).

My favourite from Saturday. The light lasted about four minutes and we got it.

Why it works: One strong image with a short story stops the scroll, and the four minutes shows the skill behind it.

  2. Tuesday · TikTok · Video

Shoot: Behind the scenes of a shoot: your phone over your shoulder as you direct, fifteen seconds.

What I actually say on a shoot. Mostly 'look at each other, now laugh at nothing'.

Why it works: Behind-the-scenes videos show what it's like to be photographed by you, which is what nervous clients want to know.

  3. Wednesday · Instagram · Carousel

Shoot: Six frames from one session in the order you took them, with the client's permission (ask first).

One hour with Jess and Tom on the hill behind their house. Swipe to see how it changed as they relaxed.

Why it works: A full set shows consistency, not one lucky shot, and couples planning a shoot save carousels like this.

  4. Thursday · Instagram · Reel

Shoot: A before and after of one edit, the raw file fading into the final.

Raw file, then the edit. I keep skin as skin, I just fix the light.

Why it works: Showing your edit style honestly attracts clients who want it and filters out the ones who don't.

  5. Friday · TikTok · Video

Shoot: Your camera bag being packed for tomorrow's shoot, item by item.

Packing for a wedding tomorrow. Two bodies, four lenses, six batteries, and a granola bar.

Why it works: Kit videos get watched by other photographers and clients alike, and they show you take the job seriously.

  6. Saturday · Instagram · Photo

Shoot: A frame from a shoot today, taken on your phone, showing the setting rather than the people.

Shooting here today. If you're planning something for spring, I've got three Saturdays left.

Why it works: Saying how many dates are left turns a nice photo into an enquiry, and the setting gives people ideas.

  7. Sunday · LinkedIn · Post

Shoot: A headshot you took this month, with the client's permission (ask first), and a short note.

Headshots for a small accountancy team this week. Twenty minutes each, no awkward posing, back in their inbox in five days.

Why it works: Business clients look for headshot photographers on LinkedIn, and clear times answer their practical questions.

What to shoot this week

  • Your favourite frame from every shoot, the same week, while it's fresh.
  • Behind the scenes on your phone: your directions, the setup, the light.
  • Before and after edits that show your style honestly.
  • Locations you love, without anyone in them.

Questions

How often should a photographer post?

Three or four times a week is enough if the work is good. One strong frame with a short story beats a daily dump of a whole gallery. Post within a week of a shoot, while clients are still excited to share.

Which platform is best for a photographer?

Instagram is still where most people look at a photographer's work, and TikTok behind-the-scenes clips reach new clients. LinkedIn is worth it if you do headshots or business work.

Can I post photos from client shoots?

Only with permission, ideally agreed in your contract before the shoot. Most clients are happy to say yes, and many will share the post themselves. Loudwell uses the photos and clips you already have.

Can Loudwell write a week like this for me?

Yes. Loudwell is a Mac app that plans your week from the photos and clips you already have and writes each caption in your voice. Nothing goes out without your yes on your phone. Solo is £4.99 a month, with 7 days free and no card; your AI provider bills you separately, usually £2 to £4 a month.
