A week of posts for a barber

Seven posts for a small barber shop, one a day, with the photo to take, the caption and why it works. Copy them as they are, or let Loudwell write a week like this from your own photos, in your voice.

Your regulars come every three weeks and sit in the same chair, and half your trade is word of mouth. The lads who've just moved in round the corner don't know you yet. A week like this shows them the fades before they walk past.

The week

  1. Monday · Instagram · Photo

Shoot: A fresh skin fade from the side, under the station light (ask first).

Low skin fade, longer on top. Forty minutes and a hot towel to finish.

Why it works: Side-profile fades are what people save and show their barber, so make it you.

  2. Tuesday · TikTok · Video

Shoot: Fifteen seconds of the clippers blending the fade, close up (ask first).

The blend is all in the last ten minutes. Most people never notice. You would if we skipped it.

Why it works: Close clipper work is hypnotic to watch, and watch time is what spreads it.

  3. Wednesday · Instagram · Carousel

Shoot: Four photos: the beard before, the line-up, the hot towel, the finish (ask first).

Beard trim and line-up, £15, about 25 minutes. Swipe for the bit with the hot towel.

Why it works: A clear price and time answers the two questions people message about most.

  4. Thursday · Instagram · Photo

Shoot: The chairs and the morning light before the first walk-in.

Walk-ins till 12 on Thursdays. After that it's bookings only.

Why it works: A simple, useful fact about when to come is what gets people through the door.

  5. Friday · TikTok · Video

Shoot: The turn to the mirror and the client's first look (ask first).

Two years growing it out. Ten minutes taking it off.

Why it works: Big changes get shared by the client and their mates.

  6. Saturday · Instagram · Reel

Shoot: Saturday in the shop: queue on the bench, clippers going, a laugh, ten seconds.

Saturday queue's part of the fun. Bring a coffee, we'll get you in.

Why it works: A full bench is social proof without bragging.

  7. Sunday · Instagram · Photo

Shoot: The swept floor and capes hung up after closing.

That's us for the week. Back Tuesday at 9.

Why it works: A quiet sign-off reminds people when you're open next.

What to shoot this week

  • Every fade from the side, under the same light so the work looks consistent.
  • Close clips of clippers and razors at work. Hands and tools are easier to film than faces.
  • The shop itself at different times: opening, the Saturday queue, closing.
  • Clients' first look in the mirror, with their permission.

Questions

How often should a barber post?

Three to five posts a week is plenty. Your regulars already know you, so posts are mostly for the people nearby who haven't been in yet.

Which platform is best for a barber?

Instagram for a grid of cuts people check before trying a new barber, and TikTok for short clipper clips that reach locals. LinkedIn and X don't do much for a barber.

Should a barber post prices?

Yes, at least for the main cuts. People are more likely to walk in when they know what it costs, and it saves you answering the same message every day.

Can Loudwell write a week like this for me?

Yes. Loudwell is a Mac app that plans your week from the photos and clips you already have and writes each caption in your voice. Nothing goes out without your yes on your phone. Solo is £4.99 a month, with 7 days free and no card; your AI provider bills you separately, usually £2 to £4 a month.
