FFmpeg

The Loudwell Mac app includes FFmpeg (the ffmpeg and ffprobe programs, version 9.0.2), which it uses to make and read video, sound and pictures. FFmpeg is free software licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later. FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard, originator of the FFmpeg project.

We build it from the unchanged FFmpeg source, with no GPL or non-free parts. The full licence text comes with the app, in Loudwell.app/Contents/Resources/vendor/FFMPEG-LICENSE.txt, next to a note of the exact source it was built from (FFMPEG-SOURCE.txt). The same files are in every Loudwell download.

Getting the FFmpeg source

The exact source code we built from is here: ffmpeg-9.0.2.tar.xz (SHA-256 8c3850283eb25fa026482078a04051e0be17347b09ef81a0849bec15a96e002e). The build script is in the same note.

Written offer: for at least three years after we last distribute a version of Loudwell, anyone who has a copy may ask us for the complete corresponding source code of the FFmpeg included in it, at no charge beyond the cost of sending it. Email loudwellapp@gmail.com and say which Loudwell version you have (Account in the app shows it).

You may replace the ffmpeg and ffprobe programs inside the app with your own builds; Loudwell calls them as separate programs.

Electron and Chromium

Loudwell's Mac app is built on Electron, which includes Chromium and Node.js. Their licences come with the app in Loudwell.app/Contents/Resources/vendor/ (ELECTRON-LICENSE.txt and LICENSES.chromium.html).
